About Solitaire
Solitaire — specifically Klondike Solitaire — is quite possibly the most-played card game in history, introduced to hundreds of millions of people through its inclusion in Windows 3.0 back in 1990. The goal is to move all 52 cards onto four foundation piles, sorted by suit from Ace to King.
The tableau starts with seven columns of face-down cards, each topped by a face-up card. You build sequences in the tableau by stacking cards in descending order with alternating red and black suits — a black 7 on a red 8, for example. When a column is cleared, only a King (or a stack starting with a King) can fill it. When no tableau moves are available, you draw from the stock pile to reveal new cards.
The tension of Klondike lies in its decisions. Every face-down card in the tableau hides information you need, and uncovering those cards efficiently is the key to victory. Experienced players learn to prioritize uncovering the longest columns first, manage their draw pile strategically, and resist the temptation to move cards just because the move is available. Our browser version supports both Draw 1 and Draw 3 modes, includes an unlimited undo button, and tracks your personal statistics over time.
